The name of the signing officer does not appear in part 5 of the RC-59 (Business consent form) or in part 7 of the TP-985.22 (Information return), why is that?

This situation will arise if there are more than one CorpOfficers keyword group and one of them has one of the following options selected:

  • Shareholder - individual
  • Director
Therefore if form RC-59 has to be filed (for instance it was not filed previously with consent applied to all years) or if you are filing form TP-985.22, the workaround is as follows:
    1) Create a new client (F3)
    2) Under the Name keyword, enter your corporation's name
    3) Select the "Other client" option from the right-hand side display menu
    4) Enter your client's number, make sure current year and production are selected and click OK
    5) Using the F5 function key, mark the first keyword and then go to the last entry (Ctrl+End) and press F5 again
    6) All the keywords should be highlighted, do Alt-C in order to copy information on the left-hand side
    7) Delete all the CorpOfficers keyword groups except the one that is the signing officer
    8) Calculate the return and print only the RC-59 (and/or TP-985.22)
    9) Mail the RC-59 (and/or TP-985.22) to the government
Alternatively you can write (in print) the signing officer first name and last name by hand.
